K-MUG conducted another successful Microsoft Community Tech days on 30th January 2010. We had some wonderful sessions about Silverlight, MVC,SQL server etc. Even though the participation was less compared the CTD in Trivandrum we had very good interaction from the audience.

Sometime back I wrote a post about Are Indian Software Developers “Code Donkeys”? . Soon after writing this post I became more active in stackoverflow and started seeing lot of “worst” questions. Almost 80% of the questions are from Indian Developers. This made me think “Are Indian Software Engineers really Code Donkeys?” Don’t believe me? Check out the below questions

Same IP to two computers? That breaks the reason for us to use IP address. I seriously think he should not be coding if don’t know the basics?

5. Browser compatibility problem

Recovering what? If both works fine then whats the issue? What menu? What programming language? What is the error?

Microsoft Office 2010 is available for private technical preview. I thought I will not post about Microsoft Office 2010 in codegeeks. Reason? This is a programming blog 
. I thought I will just tweet about the experience but I am tempted to post the screen shots here.
I upgraded from office 2007 to office 2010 and the upgrade took just few minutes. The first thing I noticed was the speed at which word, excel and outlook started.
Word started in just 2-3 seconds. The ribbon you see in office 2007 has gone through some changes and one of the new attraction is the new office button
Clicking this button opens up a new window with options to save, open, print, share the document etc.
I don’t use word 2007 much because I spend most of the time at office and we still use office Xp(!) . Yes you read it right we use office xp but I feel it was a good move not to switch to office 2007. Office 2010 looks more promising than office 2007.
Outlook 2010 is also better and faster than outlook 2007. It took few minutes to open the first time I started outlook. One thing to note is that there is no going back to office 2007 once you start using 2010. So back up your mails (pst files) before upgrading to outlook 2010.

Overall Microsoft office 2010 looks promising like Windows 7.
